In the early ‘60’s my Grandfather Douglas Gorman started his Fish Bar in Newcastle. Even from those early days he built up a reputation for outstanding quality fish and chips and a friendly service for his customers.
Over the years the business grew to an amazing 4 shops dotted around the west end of Newcastle. 12 years ago, my father (also called Douglas) took over the business in Fenham, carried on the family tradition of quality and service and the business became renowned throughout the whole of Newcastle, revered and admired by others, ‘Often copied but never battered!’ as the saying goes.
After 10 years I persuaded my dad to let me take the reins.
The Latest Chapter... But Just The Beginning
Building on the knowledge, tradition and skills I have learnt, I have, over 10 years, developed my own unique batter mix, and I have been relentless in finding a perfect cooking oil blended to cook the fish and chips to the highest standards. New systems, better fresh produce and improved business management have ensured we have a great business and one which you can tap into.
My passion for the business knows no bounds. I constantly strive to improve the product, service and overall offering. With a desire to see many others join and enjoy the benefits of my, knowledge and skills the franchise concept was born.

Not wishing to take away the core principles of the business is very important to me. The business is based on simple no nonsense fish and chips but done perfectly every time. We operate a strict policy on adherence to the systems to ensure perfect fish & chips and a shop to be proud of - great staff and great clean environments. A franchise network based on the same love and passion is important, not a desire for thousands of outlets with a faceless head office. This is all about help, support and team work in a family business that just wants thousands more to have the opportunity to enjoy the food.
